Set in the 17th century, Morgan Adams (Geena Davis) inherits command over her father's ship, The Morningstar, as well as part of a treasure map. She buys a translator named William Shaw (Matthew Modine) at a slave auction. However, he secretly acquires the second part to the map. Her and her new friend are in a race to beat the holder of the third part... her uncle, Dawg Brown, to Cutthroat Island.
