The movie Déjà Vu (2006) is about ATF agent Doug Carlin (Denzel Washington) using Secret FBI technology, that allows for the vision of the past by four and one half days, to stop a terrorist attack on a ferry boat in Louisiana. The strangely dead burnt cut body of Claire Kuchever (Paula Patton) leads to Doug investigating the relationship between her and the attack because the autopsy shows that her death was not in cause of the attack. The secret technology being used by Agent Pryzwarra (Val Kilmer), Denny (Adam Goldberg), Gunnars (Elden Henson), and Shanti (Erika Alexander), is then used to watch Claire's life in the past to determine who the bomber was by watching to see who stole her truck which was used to hold the bomb. Doug then learns that the technology isn't just for viewing the past, rather, is able to be in the past and it is used to send a note to Doug in the past about the attack and to intercept the unknown bomber. Doug then decides to send himself back to the past as the only option and then he and Claire stop the attack on the ferry ending in the loss of the future Doug. Claire then meets up with the new reality Doug and realizes how the Doug that helped her knew so much.
