Lincoln Hawk (Sylvester Stallone) is an over-the-road truck driver who leads a simple life after divorcing his wife, Christina Cutler-Hawk (Susan Blakely), over a decade ago. Christina, who has become terminally ill, devises a plan for her son, Michael Cutler-Hawk (David Mendenhall), to get to know his estranged father. Unbeknownst to (and much to his dismay) the arrogant and controlling grandfather Jason Cutler (Robert Loggia), Lincoln is to pick-up his son from military school and travel with him across the country in his diesel truck. Jason is willing to go to any extreme to retrieve Michael from Lincoln, who he perceives as a loser and dead-beat father. Little does he know, Lincoln, a mildly successful arm wrestler, has no intentions of giving up on his son, and will do anything to win the fight of his life.
