Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal) and his brothers Garsiv (Toby Kebbell) and Tus (Richard Coyle) are royally blooded brothers who band together to lead an invasion into the city of Alamut. Dastan decides to break off from his brothers and lead his own attack, along with his best friend Bis (Reece Ritchie). During that attack, he defeats the guards of Princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton) and captures her, along with the mysterious Dagger of Time that she possesses. Sometime after the attack on Alamut, Dastan is framed for the murder of his father, King Sharaman (Ronald Pickup), and is forced to flee the city, taking Princess Tamina along with him. Along the way, Dastan learns some of the magic behind the Dagger of Time, and therefore learns the less than admirable intentions of some of his family members. Can Dastan stop his family from making the wrong choices with their newfound leadership and power?
