Matthew Quigley (Tom Selleck) is a Wild West gunman who is hired by Australian rancher Elliot Marston (Alan Rickman) to shoot dingoes. He makes the long journey to the Down Under by boat and meets his employer. Quigley discovers that Marston also wants his help slaughtering Aborigines. Quigley finds the idea deplorable and throws Marston through a window, thus begins the heated rivalry between the two men. Marston's men abandon Quigley and 'Crazy Cora' (Laura San Giacomo), who thinks Quigley is her husband Roy, in the Australian Outback, where they are expected to die without food or water. With help from the Aborigines, Quigley and Cora survive and help rescue other Aborigines from Marston.
