When Blu, a domesticated macaw from small-town Minnesota, meets the fiercely independent Jewel, he takes off on an adventure to Rio de Janeiro with this bird of his dreams.

The plot, revealed by director Carlos Saldanha and composer Sérgio Mendes, will involve the 2014 FIFA World Cup. It will also feature an opening scene involving Blu and Jewel's chicks, two of which are male, with the other being female, and the female being afraid to fly.
