Chan Ka Kui (Jackie Chan) is a Hong Kong police officer who is sent to mainland China to do some undercover work and break up a drug smuggling ring. To earn the trust of the criminals, Chan Ka Kui works with another undercover cop, Jessica Yang (Michelle Yeoh) to free the drug lord’s brother out of prison. After that, they are taken to Hong Kong to work for the syndicate. Meanwhile, the drug lord’s wife has been arrested for drug trafficking in Malaysia and is sentenced to be executed. There is a Swiss bank account that contains millions of dollars in drug money, and only the wife knows the account number. While the drug lord and the two undercover officers are in Malaysia planning to break her out of jail, Chan Ka Kui runs into his girlfriend May (Maggie Cheung), who blows his cover. The criminals kidnap May and force Chan Ka Kui to help them pull off the jail break.
