360 students with severe or profound hearing impairments aged between 6 and 16 , and representing a broad cross section of educational histories,were assessed on two reading tests. the results indicated a slow growth n reading skills, with the expected superiority of females and students with less severe hearing impairments . The results give some guidance for assessing the achievements of students relative to their hearing impaired peers.
