The European Conference on Vocational Training and employment of Deaf People, convened in Portugal in May 1990 was a unique opportunity for ninety Deaf experts from every Member State to address training and employment issues at Community level . The meeting resulted in a European Charter on the Rights of Deaf People in relation to training and employment.
This report outlines these fundamentals rights and explores eighteen resolutions ratified by the European Community Regional Secretariat of the World Federation of the Deaf. Collectively these resolutions form a blueprint for much needed change in all spheres relating to a Deaf person's right to training and work which is commensurate with his or her abilities .
