This much-needed book aims to provide teachers (and anyone else concerned with language teaching) with framework for evaluating their pupils linguistics development and for contributing to it appropriately.

It is focuses in detail on the grammatical structures of children's own writing , and on the material written for hem in books, work cards and examinations questions. There are chapters on the grammatical structures of English and the main grammatical developments that take place in children between the age of eighteen months and the early teens, as chapter illustrating specific differences between spoken and written language. No other book covers this subject in the same detail or with such clarity; it should prove an invaluable text for teachers on initial or in-service training courses and for students of psychologists.
