The Pontifical Biblical Commission reviews the key features of historical exegesis (a critical interpretation of text), other current methods of exegesis, and the philosophies and theologies that define hermeneutics (study of the theory and practice of interpretation). Giving serious consideration to the various aspects of Biblical interpretation--attending to the criticisms, as well as theaspirations--such that the word of God becomes more and more spiritually nourishing.
