The adventures of the world's favorite fiery-tempered duck continue as we follow his solo-starring efforts from 1942 through 1946. This period was filled with an abundance of comic exploits as Donald shows his huge audience what he's made of, short fuse and all. Among Donald's featured escapades is the Academy Award(R)-nominated Best Short, "Donald's Crime," from 1945. Also showcased is an interview with the current-day voice of Donald Duck, Tony Anselmo, and a profile of the legendary comic book artist Carl Barks -- including a look at the not-often-seen work he did in Disney's animation department.

3 Donald's Snow Fight 1 min | Jan 01, 1942

Donald takes on his nephews in an all-out snow and ice war in this extremely memorable holiday short. Variations on "Jingle Bells" make up the score and it's a must-watch for the Christmas season.

7 Flying Jalopy 1 min | Jan 01, 1942

Donald nearly falls prey to an insurance scam from a conniving bird who sells him a plane and then tries to collect insurance on it.

8 Donald Gets Drafted 1 min | Jan 01, 1942

The draft doesn't seem as scary when Donald Duck accepts his duty with pleasure, or at least that seems to be the idea behind this enjoyable short, though things aren't as rosy in the army as Donald may have hoped.

9 The Vanishing Private 1 min | Jan 01, 1942

Perhaps the funniest cartoon in the whole set, this one deals with Donald trying to follow orders but of course going awry when he doesn't understand the concept of camouflage and goes from loud, flashy colors to invisible paint. The chemistry between Donald and Pete is more evident here than ever.

10 Sky Trooper 1 min | Jan 01, 1942

Donald thinks he wants to parachute with the rest of the guys but loses his nerve when the time comes, much to the chagrin of Pete.

11 Der Fuehrer's Face 1 min | Jan 01, 1943

It is today considered to be perhaps the most explicit propaganda short from Disney during the second World War and for good reason, as the Axis powers are ridiculed (most especially Hitler's Nazis) in a dream from Donald in which he himself is a Nazi soldier.

12 Fall Out - Fall In 1 min | Jan 01, 1943

Army life isn't treating Donald very well as he trudges through inordinately lengthy marches and tent-pitching woes.

Donald and his nephews think they're under attack and so man their stations with much trepidation, though it's actually a bumble bee causing all the commotion.

15 Commando Duck 1 min | Jan 01, 1944

This short has more potential to offend than any other here, but is still fascinating. Donald is charged with wiping out a Japanese base, where stereotypes intentionally abound, though he's alone in his mission and it doesn't go so well for him.

16 Trombone Trouble 1 min | Jan 01, 1944

Pete's learning to play the trombone but the noise is so unbearable that the gods empower Donald, Pete's equally annoyed neighbor, with the ability to force him to stop.

Donald follows a radio how-to guide to constructing his own airplane out of plastics but it isn't the sturdiest creation.

18 Donald's Off Day 1 min | Jan 01, 1944

Reading too many medical journals might make you paranoid, as Donald proves in this short, in which the Duck falls victim to hypochondria of the worst kind.

19 Donald Duck and the Gorilla 1 min | Jan 01, 1944

Donald has two gorillas after him: the costume worn by his nephews who know their uncle to be worried about the recently escaped gorilla... and the escapee himself!

Donald learns hypnosis and tries it on an unassuming Pluto.

22 Donald's Crime 1 min | Jan 01, 1945

Nominated for an Academy Award, this short is a little reminiscent of Edgar Allen Poe, in that it deals with Donald's guilt after he steals money from his nephews in order to afford a date with Daisy.

Radio dramas come to life and Donald's imagination runs amock in this comical cartoon.

28 Donald's Double Trouble 1 min | Jan 01, 1946

Daisy insists that Donald clean up his act with some sophistication before they date again, so when Donald meets a duck who looks just like him but boasts a more civilized persona, he seizes the opportunity and invites him to take his place on a date with Daisy while Donald, who grows increasingly jealous, watches from the sidelines.
