Plot

At President Roosevelt's request, Americans are growing as much food as they can in backyard Victory Gardens. In Seattle, Barb and Eddie Harrington join the effort to create a large Victory Garden from a vacant city lot--the place where Eddie and his friends liked to play baseball. But the war demands sacrifice, and everyone helps--including a farmer who brings his old-fashioned horse team to plow the field. Meanwhile, Eddie and Barb grow suspicious of Sal Bolella who finds out that Mr. Harrington works at Boeing, and starts quizzing Eddie about planes that are being built there. Why is Sal trying to get Eddie to spill secrets?
