Plot

Fast Forward books are lots of fun! They also transform distant events of history into very real, dramatically vivid experiences for young readers. Each title covers one specific theme, then, using a series of color-illustrated two-page spreads, shows the location of that theme at different times over many centuries. Tabs on page edges label illustrations with a succession of identifying dates, with the final spread showing the title subject's location as it exists today. (Ages 7 and older)In 600 B.C., it was a tiny Celtic farm settlement. By A.D. 100 it was a Roman fort built of stone -- then a thousand years later, a Norman castle under siege by enemies. Today, it's ruined castle explored by tourists and archaeologists.
