This book is based on evidence provided by the Collins English Dictionaries Language-Monitoring database, including the Bank of English. This means that as well as being up-to-date, this dictionary is representative of today's language in its selection of words and in the order of meanings. Words are shown in colour, with the meanings explained and assistance offered on usage, such as spelling reminders, pronunciation comments and typical sentence patterns, is given in notes at the end of entries.
