Plot

Hildy Corrigan had never seen the man before he bumped into her on the street. He turns out to be the suspect in a mysterious pawnshop theft. Why would he steal only one fancy gold watch? Is there a connection with the fact that it had been pawned just the day before? Why would he steal it in broad daylight?

The evening of the same day, the Corrigan dwelling is burglarized. Considering how desperately poor they are, what could anyone want? Then Mischief, Hildy's raccoon, is discovered with the missing watch, and the pieces of the puzzling affair begin to fit together.

But in the morning the watch is gone again! And now Hildy is accused of the theft!

Hildy must clear her name, and the watch with its mysterious contents must be found.

JOIN HILDY, RUBY, AND SPUD AS THEY PLUNGE INTO MYSTERY AND DANGER!
