Chaos and Desire – chaos and desire

Alice, a seismologist working in Japan, is forced to return to Quebec to try to make sense of a strange phenomenon: for the past week, in a small northern town, the tide has stopped. As soon as she sets foot in Baie-Comeau, the scientist's mission takes an unexpected turn. The place is unbearably humid, people are behaving in wacky ways, a young Chinese girl sleep-walks every night, and the phone number of the attractive fire-fighting tanker-lane pilot, Marc has been torn from every phone book in town. In order to shed some light on the mystery, Alice must abandon science and rely on her feelings.
