Tout Va Bien is the all-but-inevitable 1973 collaboration between actress Jane Fonda and director Jean-Luc Godard. Hanoi Fonda and unreconstructed Maoist Godard come up with a feature-length allusion to the recent worldwide student riots in protest of VietNam. Fonda plays an American reporter, married to filmmaker Yves Montand, who arrives in France to cover a strike at a sausage factory. The workers have all but demolished the plant and taken its executives hostages. While interviewing the participants in the strike, Fonda herself becomes "radicalized." Jean-Luc Godard shared directorial responsibilities in Tout va Bien with longtime associate (and political firebrand) Jean-Pierre Gorin. — Hal Erickson
