The title means "to return," but it only hints at the layers of meaning that Pedro Almodóvar works in his latest triumph. With a nod to Hitchcock's The Trouble With Harry, Almodóvar offers a hilarious and occasional horrifying tale of two sisters (Penélope Cruz and Lola Dueñas), a mother (Carmen Maura) who may be a ghost, a very bothersome body and incessant winds that may cause madness. The maestro's love of female protagonists was rewarded with an ensemble acting award at Cannes this year, but the real prize is watching them together on Almodóvar's colourful screen.
