Battleground is the story of the 101st Airbourne Division of the U. S. Army. The unit becomes trapped when the Nazis launch their last major offensive in World War II, known famously as the Battle of the Bulge. We follow valiant American soldiers Holley (Van Johnson), Jarvess (John Hodiak), and Roderigues (Ricardo Montalban) as they have been encircled by Axis forces in the decimated Belgian town of Bastogne. They and their unit’s only chance for survival is to band together and fight mercilessly if they are to survive and the Allies are to win this extremely important conflict in the course of World War II.
