All Asa (Askhat Kuchencherekov) wants is to get married. But it's not easy when you live on the remote Kazakhstan steppes, your brother refuses to give you your own herd of sheep unless you marry, and the only single girl, the lyrically named Tulpan (Tulip), thinks your ears are too big. This may be the only movie you'll see in which a newborn lamb is given mouth-to-mouth. It's a charming film filled with wonderful moments thanks to Asa's quirky pal Boni, who drives a Mad Max-like stripped-down tractor papered with photos of busty pinups and the children who share the extended family's yurt – a chattering toddler, a girl who sings all day and a boy who parrots radio news reports.
