Trois temps après la mort d'Anna
An elegant and haunting story about one of the most shattering losses imaginable, accomplished Québécoise director Catherine Martin’s new film examines a mother’s struggle to deal with the violent death of her musically gifted daughter. Conceiving the film in three “movements” (the trois temps of the title), Martin combines a contemplative pace with strikingly composed images, crafting a moving hymn to loss and renewal.

Panel Statement
Trois temps après la mort d'Anna, known in English as Mourning for Anna is one of the most sensitively told stories I've seen. Writer/director Catherine Martin draws you delicately into the mesmerizing tale of a mother's struggle to cope with the senseless murder of her daughter. The film, which, in its tone reminded me of Sarah Polley's Away From Her, explores a panorama of feelings that ultimately transcend tragedy and find reasons for living. Beautiful.
