Brendan (Sean Bean) is working for a jazz club owned by Finney (Sting) who had some mob connections in the past. The mafia wants to deal with Finney again, but Brendan warns him against the consequences. A group of American investors are visiting the city and Cosmo (Tommy Lee Jones) a corrupt business man from the same delegation, uses Kate (Melanie Griffith) as a prostitute to win over clients while she acts like a waitress. Soon Kate and Brendan meet and fall in love. Cosmo also wants to get rid of Finney as the Club is obstructing his business plans. However, he has to first face Kate and Brendan.
