Adrian Toomes, better known as the Vulture, has been a model prisoner, but only to earn access to the machine shop where he fashioned a new flying apparatus. After escaping by flying over the prison walls, he launches a new crime wave. Spider-Man comes after him equipped with a magnetic inverter, only to learn that the Vulture has prepared a defense against it. Injured after a nearly fatal fall, Spider-Man leaves the battle to develop a new strategy for combat. He soon develops one with a pretty good chance for success, and heads back into battle to try it out, laying waste to the Daily Bugle as the pair fight through it.
