Trapped in the future by the Lords of Luck, Batman is told that there is no hope for him.On Rann in the present, Green Lantern, Supergirl and Adam Strange battle against the Lords of Luck and the traitorous Rannians until Stranger persuades Supergirl to read the Book of Destiny - using her X-ray vision - and find where Batman is. Using a power ring boosted Zeta Beam, Lantern and Strange pull Batman from the future as he knows who can save them.Once he has deduced who they need, Batman uses a Zeta Beam to bring them to Earth - the Challengers of the Unknown. The battle turns against the Rannians as the Challengers take hold of the Book of Destiny and Strange uses a Zeta Beam to send the Lords of Luck to Oa.Strange entrusts the Book of Destiny to Prof Haley and sends the heroes home to Earth.
