Fantastic Four Meet The Skrulls From Outer Space!
| Release: | Sep 28, 1961 |
| Cover: | Jan 1962 |
The Skrulls arrive on Earth for the first time readers are aware of. Four of them use their shapeshifting abilities to assume the identities of the Fantastic Four, in order to discredit and eliminate the team before the full scale planetary invasion begins. The Fantastic Four discover the plot, and manage to defeat the invasion and prove their own innocence by capturing the invaders, hypnotizing them into believing they are cows, and assuming the invaders' identities when reporting to the mothership. When reporting to the mothership, Reed convinces the Skrull leaders that Earth is too well defended to be invaded by showing them clippings from old issues of "Strange Tales" and "Journey Into Mystery" comics. The Skrull leader is convinced these drawings are photographs, and calls off the invasion.
