The Wizard still has the Thing under his control, which is enough to turn the tide of battle in favor of the Frightful Four. Thing traps Reed in an urn while the Human Torch is doused and captured. Sue barely manages to escape with Reed, but Johnny is placed under the Wizard's mental control as well.
