Reed has detected and partially translated a Kree message. He realizes that the Kree Sentry left on Earth has been ordered to attack the Apollo 11 mission, intended to land at the Sea of Tranquility on the moon. He cannot allow the Kree to interfere with this monumental human event, in which NASA successfully sends people to the moon over 80 issues after the FF went there themselves.
