Magneto heads to Latveria with a proposal for Dr. Doom, only to learn that Dr. Doom has quietly and thouroughly released a gas worldwide that has already enslaved the world's population. Bored with his secret victory, he frees Magneto from his control, and allows him to try and rally forces and allies against him. Magneto frees the Beast, but they're not terribly welcome when they try to recruit another superteam to the cause.
