Captured by S.H.I.E.L.D. and brought aboard the helicarrier, the Winter Soldier quickly escapes captivity and moved directly against Iron Man. Despite Iron Man's unexpected preparations, the Winter Soldier still manages to force a stalemate which ends when Iron Man asks him to read the letter Steve Rogers left. After reading it, he agrees to take on the role of Captain America.
