Thrashed, Conclusion
The new New Warriors manage to deal with Machinesmith, but it doesn't sound like he was the threat they were lead to believe. In fact, Night Thrasher eventually admits to lying about what Machinesmith was up to in order to get the team to take him down. The rest of the team don't particularly care for this revelation.
