John Stewart has gotten through the trial for the murder of Carol Ferris, but then he's brought in for the diamond theft he suggested to Hal Jordan. Hal gives him the power to break out of jail, but in doing so, he also gives him the opportunity to judge apartheid in South Namibia. John, like any other reasonable human being, does not like what he sees. His reaction, though, may be too extreme.
