The world is awakening from the Blackest Night as though it were a horrible dream, but for those who have been miraculously returned from the dead, the nightmare may not be over. Deadman seems to be alive again, but the white ring he used to help defeat Nekron refuses to come off. Making him invisible, it pulls him around the world to witness events in the lives of the others who have come back to life. Aquaman and Mera manage to rescue a group of children from modern-day pirates, but in the course of the rescue, the giant squid he calls to his aid is dead - just like the sea life he summoned as a black lantern. Beyond his control, it mercilessly kills all of the pirates aboard one of the ships. A telepathic intrusion on the mind of J'onn Jonnz during his work to transform Mars lures the Martian Manhunter back to Earth. And the Claw of Horus continues to draw Hawkman and Hawkwoman in pursuit of something from their past.
