With the aid of the Blue Beetles, Booster Gold has accomplished the impossible... he has rescued his best friend, Ted Kord, from his death at the hands of Maxwell Lord. But as the group travels through the Timestream, they attract the attention of Parallax and Extant as they plot the destruction of the universe. Making their escape, they find themselves in the future, on the very day that Michael John Carter threw a football game to try and make money gambling for his father. Stealing a time-sphere from the museum that Booster will one day guard, they plan to return to the present, and enlist Rip Hunter's aid in returning the stolen Time Sphere so that it will be there for Booster to steal, returning him to the past. But upon their return to the present, not all is right in the lab of Rip Hunter.
