In New York, Despero's attack on the Justice League ends in disaster as he kills each member, one after another before unleashing his hatred and power upon the entire planet, destroying it and himself utterly. In fact, the Martian Manhunter had placed in Despero's brain the image of what he wanted most, defeating him with his own thoughts and shrinking him down to a tiny embryonic stage. However, Mr Miracle, killed by Despero during the battle, is still dead. Following Miracle's funeral, the League reflects on their lack of powerful members.
