At the United Nations, the Justice League face off against The Anarchist who had challenged them to prevent him kidnapping several world leaders. Unfortunately, the Anarchist overcomes the League and succeeds in his plan.Elsewhere, Green Lantern wakes in the middle of the night to find him charging his ring. Questioning his ring, he learns that it cannot tell him who is making him charge it and heads off to find the culprit. In Metropolis, Clark Kent attends a rally of a faith healer called Simon Ellis and is surprised when a friend of his has his broken leg healed by Ellis. After the show, Superman follows Ellis, suspecting him of being tied to The Anarchist and summons the League for help. As they attempt to question Ellis, Green Lantern's power ring strikes the other Leaguers who then vanish along with Ellis just as the world leaders and the Anarchist had.Lantern tells Superman about the problem with waking to charge his ring and they deduce that Ellis has been siphoning off Lantern's power. As they try to drain the ring of power they find nothing works and the only way to prevent Lantern from recharging it is for Superman to knock him unconcious. With the Anarchist's power shut off, the rest of the League find and capture him, revealing him to be Simon Ellis.
