Nighwing and Superboy take a crystal Luthor gave them to find the tower where Alexander Luthor is building his machine; they will meet other heroes in the hope of stopping him. On the trip, Superboy mulls his inexperience compared to Nightwing, while Nighwing wishes Superboy had more self-confidence. Wonder Girl discovers the reason her powers are fading is that the gods are retreating from the world, and taking their power with them. But Ares offers a solution - if she will agree to anchor him to Earth he will lend her some of his power. Superboy worries that this "Infinite Crisis" is what turns the Titans evil. And then they arrive at Luthor's tower.
