Loki holds Erik Masterson's son Kevin hostage, and demands that Thor discard Mjolnir to save the boy's life. This begins a battle of the gods between the two brothers as Thor does everything he can to shield Kevin as Loki beats on Thor. The police manage to work their way up to the top floor of the building where the two Asgardians fight, and rescue Kevin, allowing Thor to finally take the offensive. With Loki at his mercy, Thor has a chance to end his life... but he relents. At least until Loki's spiteful act of killing a mortal close to Thor before surrendering to face Asgard's justice. Enraged, Thor declares that Asgardian justice is not strong enough for Loki's crimes, and takes his life. For this crime, Odin awakes from his rest to declare that Thor must face justice.Thor vanishes, and in his place is only Erik Masterson. But when he bangs his walking stick against the ground, he posesses the power of Thor... while still retaining his own personality.
