The Thunderbolts head to Avengers mansion, because it is going to take everyone to deal with an ionic-enhanced Luchino Nefaria! Their plan consists of a strike meant to lure out his pawns, Atlas and Wonder Man, and then the use of a device supplied by Madame Masque, an ionic lock which will temporarily inhibit his powers. But he does not take the bait, and soon they see why: he has constructed an immense "bomb" that will saturate the Earth with ionic radiation, bringing all exposed under Nefaria's control!
