Ben and Johnny (with Franklin and Valeria in tow) arrive to find Nu-Earth is not at all the way they expected to find it. The artificial planet's sun has collapsed into a singularity, leaving the planet orbiting a black hole. The intense gravitational forces have warped time, transforming a couple of weeks into eight years. In that time, the heroes who settled with the other refugees from the future have taken over the rule of their society. The portal back to Earth has broken, preventing Johhny and Ben from taking the kids straight back home. The only hope for escape rests with Reed Richards' intelligence, but he's back home and unaware that there's a problem!
