Plot

Linda and Owen McFarland have been happily married for seven years. During that time, Owen's son Bruce has grown into a handsome, confident high school senior, and Linda's daughter Emily has come to care deeply for her new family. Both teenagers are at a boarding school they love; Owen and Linda, novelists, work at home on their beautiful Massachusetts farm. But then the unthinkable happens. Just before Thanksgiving vacation, Emily attempts suicide. Confined to a psychiatric ward, Emily reveals that Bruce raped her. Bruce swears he didn't. One of them is lying - but who? Owen and Linda face difficult decisions as their storybook family tears apart. Which bond is stronger: husband-to-wife or parent-to-child? Can any marriage withstand this level of strain and betrayal? What about their marriage?
