While desperately trying to protect her mother from her abusive stepfather, 10-year-old Liza Barton shoots and kills her. Court rules it an accident, Liza's stepfather has the tabloids turn her into a murderess. 24 years and two marriages later, with her identity changed, Liza now known as Celia has left her past behind. At least until her present husband surprises her with a gift, the house of her childhood tragedy.
