The Word, the Words, and the World
After reading Dr. Blackwood's "Commentary on Jeremiah," you will have a profound appreciation of the man Jeremiah, of his magnificent poetry, and of the troubled times in which he lived. In order to understand the prophecies of Jeremiah, we need to know the historical circumstances in which they were delivered, and the social and cultural backgrounds. Dr. Blackwood gives us insight into all of these, but always with the emphasis on their meaning and application - that is, how they were the Word of God to Jeremiah's day, and therefore how they are God's Word to us. Dr. Blackwood also shows us Jeremiah's literary skill - which drove his message home.
