Plot

Mandie and Snowball return to Swain County, North Carolina, to visit her friends, Dr. Woodard and his son, Joe. Back in her father's home territory, Mandie gets a chance to visit her father's old log cabin where the two of them had lived before he died. The cabin appears deserted, but Joe and Mandie notice smoke rising from the chimney--and glimpse a face peering from behind a curtain.
