Plot

Set during the Revolutionary War, "The Battle" finds Thomas encountering problems as he tries to protect Malcolm from fighting in the war. He also struggles with anger about the way the war has begun to separate him from his family and friends. Responding to the pain in his life, Thomas sets his anger against God until he begins to sense God's caring hand amidst the uncertainties of the times.
