"Few will dispute the church's role in personal evangelism, or neighborhood evangelism; but in what sense may the church engage in political evangelism? Evangelism, believes Richard Mouw, means bringing the power of the gospel into confrontation with sin--which is evident in all aspects of created order, including our political processes. But "conservative-evangelical" Christianity, he observes, does not always provide the theological framework necessary to deal with the problems of racism, militarism, and social injustice that confront Christians today.
