Plot

Mathew's A History of New Testament Times in Palestine, 175 B.C. – 70 A.D. is a fascinating history of the region before and after the Roman conquest and their defeat of the Jews. If you are interested in some solid background of jewish history and background events that lead to Jesus's world this book is concise and informational. However, some readers may find it too short to provide enough depth for a good picture and a good understanding of the times covered by the book. The Author, Shalier Mathews was a professor of New Testament History and Interpretation at the University of Chicago at the time of this book's publication in 1899.
