Everett Koop, who was one of the United States’ most prominent surgeons, examines current attitudes and trends from several important perspectives: medical, personal, social, and theological. He turns the spotlight on the Supreme Court ruling on abortion, on the Karen Quinlan case, and evaluates their influence on your future. Dr. Koop was surgeon-in-chief at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and professor of pediatric surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. He was catapulted into worldwide fame in 1974 when he and his team successfully separated Siamese twin baby girls in a spectacular 10½-hour operation. Dr. Koop died in 2013 at the age of 96.
