Stephen King's Desperation

Desperation was made into a move that mirrored the book well. A small family driving through the Arizona desert sees strange things, a dead animal, an abandoned van, and a cop pulls them over and arrests them for carring marijuana-which none of them brought. Taking them into jail, they meet other people who have also been arested by this police officer and begin their struggle for freedom. Escaping the prison, they find that most of the town is simply dead or gone - a family still sitting at the dinner table. A supernatural secret involving ghosts, possession, statues, and cancer all come together to make a nail-biting movie.
