Louis Creed (Dale Midkiff) and his wife Rachel Creed (Denise Crosby) are excited to move into their new country home. The only drawback they see is the semi-trucks that race down the road outside their home. One day, while his wife and child, Gage Creed (Miko Hughes), are away from home, the family cat is killed. Louis is at a loss of what to do when his odd neighbor, Jud Crandall (Fred Gwynne), tells him of an old Indian cemetery nearby with magical powers. The two men bury the cat there and to Louis’ surprise the cat is at the front door the next morning. The cat seems to be a little meaner, but Louis believes it is because of his horrifying experience. Soon after, Gage is killed by a semi-trailer. Unable to stand his pain and grief, Louis steals the boy’s body and takes it to the mysterious cemetery. Jud warned him that what comes back isn’t what you lost, but Louis and his wife might not survive to find out the truth.
